Required Materials
Preparing for your scholarship application in advance can make the process smoother and increase your chances of success. Here’s a list of the materials you’ll need and tips on how to gather them effectively:
- Two letters of reference written within the last year.
- Start by requesting your letters of reference. This should be your first step to allow your references ample time to prepare.
- Choose individuals who can speak to your academic performance, work ethic, character, and potential. Suitable references include teachers, mentors, employers, or community leaders (not friends, family, or classmates).
- Provide one copy of your most recent transcript from your latest educational experience, whether high school or college.
- Current high school students or recent graduates:
- Request your transcript from your high school. Do not delay as processing may take time.
- Students with college credits:
- If you attended a college other than GHC, contact that college to obtain your unofficial transcripts.
- GHC students, request your transcript here.
- Current high school students or recent graduates:
- An meaningful essay addressing the following questions:
- What is your career path and why did you choose it?
- Explain how your educational pursuits at GHC align with your career path.
- What are your plans after graduating?
- Why do you feel you are worthy of receiving a scholarship?
- Student Aid Index (SAI):
- To be eligible for need-based scholarships, provide your SAI from your FAFSA or WASFA. Confirm on the application that your FAFSA or WASFA has been submitted to Grays Harbor College.
- Note: Not all scholarships are need-based.
