Hughes Tools Scholarship

Established in 2004 by Lawrence “Pat” Hughes and his late wife, Mary Ellen, the Hughes Tools Scholarship assists GHC Industrial Technology, Medical Assisting, and Nursing students in purchasing tools necessary for their fields of study. The Hughes believe that students learning valuable job skills need to start with quality tools that can later be utilized when entering the workforce.

 Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a 1st-year student in automotive, carpentry, CDL, diesel, medical assisting, nursing, or welding. 2nd-year students are eligible to apply if they did not receive a Hughes Tools Scholarship in their 1st year.
  • Maintain a “C” or higher in the fall quarter; for medical assisting and nursing, a “B-” or higher is required.
  • If a student enrolls in a program after the scholarship cycle has closed, they may apply for the next scholarship cycle in the following academic year if they continue to meet the criteria above.
