Aberdeen, WA – November 20, 2024 – Grays Harbor College’s Welding Program depends on high-quality equipment to provide students with the hands-on training they need for successful careers. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, the program was recently able to replace a vital piece of equipment—the Watts W-50 destructive testing machine.
The Watts W-50 is crucial for evaluating welds during the certification process. After years of use, the program’s old machine broke down beyond repair, halting testing for certifying students. Thanks to our donor’s nearly $11,000 contribution, the program received a new machine just in time, allowing the College to resume certification tests and get students back on track.
This donation does more than replace equipment—it ensures students continue receiving the quality training they need to enter the workforce as skilled professionals. With state operating dollars often limited, vocational programs like welding rely on donor support to keep equipment updated and training programs running smoothly.
We’re incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of all our donors who invest in the College’s vocational programs, helping prepare students for their future careers.
