Hector Arrieta, a dedicated student-athlete at Grays Harbor College, embodies the spirit of perseverance and ambition that the Eva C. Gordon Memorial Scholarship aims to support. Originally from Colombia, Hector has made remarkable strides since moving to the United States three years ago, pursuing both his educational and athletic dreams in a new country far from his family.
Hector’s journey began with his passion for baseball, leading him to Grays Harbor College to start his college education. At GHC, he is not only refining his skills on the field but also earning credits toward his degree in physical therapy—a field he chose to help others recover from injuries and improve their well-being. Hector plans to complete his initial studies at Grays Harbor College before transferring to a four-year university, where he hopes to continue playing baseball while working towards his degree in physical therapy.
The Eva C. Gordon Memorial Scholarship, established in honor of Eva Gordon’s commitment to education, has provided Hector with essential financial support, allowing him to focus on his studies and athletic commitments. Eva, who had a successful career despite not having the opportunity to attend college herself, understood the value of educational support and made it her mission to help students achieve their dreams.
