Coordinated Care Awards $25,000 Scholarships to Human Services Students

The Grays Harbor College Foundation is pleased to announce its selection as one of the recipients of the 2023 Community Scholarships provided by Coordinated Care. This support reflects Coordinated Care’s commitment to reinvesting in Washington communities and fostering the development of the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Among the 2023 recipients, Grays Harbor College stands out for its human services program, a critical component for providing the necessary skills to address behavioral health needs within our communities.

“We are deeply grateful for Coordinated Care’s support in empowering students within our human services program,” stated Lisa J. Smith, Executive Director of the Grays Harbor College Foundation. “This scholarship initiative not only aids in breaking down financial barriers but also highlights the importance of addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals in behavioral health in our region and across the state.”

Coordinated Care’s commitment to supporting behavioral health programs aligns with the pressing needs identified within local communities. By investing in initiatives like these scholarships, Coordinated Care emphasizes the significance of treating the whole person and fostering partnerships to enact systemic change.

“We continue building our community scholarship initiative to support Washingtonians pursuing careers in healthcare and in turn meet the needs of our communities,” said Beth Johnson, president and CEO at Coordinated Care.

The Coordinated Care Community Scholarship was created to address the declining number of people entering healthcare careers. After a successful pilot with two schools in 2021, Coordinated Care expanded the program by 400% with partners across every region in Washington and funds provided to nearly 300 students. The grants are used for traditional scholarships, for emergency use (such as rent, childcare and transportation) or for costs like exam fees which can unexpectedly derail earning a degree or certificate.
